Although suffering a slight delay compared to its competitors in the field ofquantum computing, Amazon recently launched a Cloud computing which will allow users to benefit from this major innovation. With Amazon Web Service Bracket, the firm intends to provide professionals and researchers around the world with quantum infrastructures to advance science or explore new horizons with Big Data.
Amazon’s first steps in the field of quantum computing
IT giants are now doing everything they can to exploit the new possibilities offered by quantum technology. While Google, Microsoft and IBM expressed interest in quantum computing very early on, Amazon seemed to be focusing on other aspects of its activities.

It was only towards the end of 2019, during the Re:Invent event that Amazon announced the launch of AWS bracket. The assistance was then able to see an overview of the functionalities of this service. One year later, AWS is fully operational and allows scientists and professionals in various sectors to have access to quantum machines from the Cloud. Three quantum computer manufacturers, namely D-Wave Systems, Rigetti and IonQ, have to date joined Amazon for this adventure.

Each of these partners offers a different development environment and, together, the systems offered should meet the needs of as many people as possible. Users will also be able to remotely use different quantum equipment to create algorithms and test their operation.
Several applications possible thanks to the functionalities offered
AWS Bracket provides a number of tools that facilitate the development of custom algorithms. However, it is also possible to use one algorithm among the many others available in a dedicated space. Finally, it remains possible to develop hybrid algorithms combining quantum technology and classical technology. Those who are just discovering this technology can join the Quantum Solutions Lab to gain insight into the different application areas.

This new service from Amazon directly competes with Azure Quantum from Microsoft. This last service also provides access to quantum machines designed by 3 promising companies (IonQ, Honeywell International and Quantum Circuits). However, Microsoft’s offering is still in the development phase while AWS Bracket is fully operational. Proof that Amazon has caught up.
